Alchemy Gaming has had pretty decent success with their subsea adventure, Aquanauts, and despite the different theme and setting, Tiger’s Ice is a similar game underneath it all. You’re taken back to the Ice Age in this installment though, and the white and black saber-tooth tiger is the main character. Both games play out on a 5×5 grid with 3,125 win ways, and Echo Rolls plays a central part.
The trademarked Echo Roll feature kicks in at random times, and it fills the Rolling Reels gaps in such a way that you are guaranteed to win. The frozen landscape is decorated with mysterious primitive inscriptions, and a bonus wheel provides different upgrades to bring with you into the feature. The20,000x potentialis less than half of what you get in the predecessor, and the top-tier RTP is also a tad lower.
The premium symbols pay between 1.5 and 6.66 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and theWild symbolsstep in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild pays up to 10x your stake should 5 wilds land on the same payline, and winning symbols are removed and replaced via theRolling Reels mechanic. This process repeats as long as you keep winning.
TheEcho Roll featuremay trigger after any given Rolling Win, and you will then see the Echo Roll square up in the left-hand side corner fill the empty positions with matching symbols for a guaranteed win. All winning symbols are collected by this square each time, presumably increasing the chances for it to trigger.
TheBonus Roundtriggers from landing3 scattersin the same Rolling Reels sequence, and this gives you8 free spins. You get +2 additional free spinson top of that per additional triggering scatter, and aBonus Wheelis spun before the feature starts. The wheel provides1 or more modifiersas follows:
Each Rolling Reels win increases thewin multiplierduring the bonus round, and it increases by+1by default. Each scatter you land in the bonus round awards+1 extra spin. Non-UK players canpurchase the bonus roundfor100x the stake, and non-UK players can also take advantage of the Upsizer feature when the bonus round triggers. This allows you to pay for extra upgrades.
You get to see some smaller base game wins here and there, before we purchase the bonus round at 0:36 into the 3-minute highlights video. We got +4 extra spins from the bonus wheel, which adds up to 12 free spins in total. You can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
We found the title “Tiger’s Ice” to be a bit strange, but the game itself was surprisingly refreshing and fun. The audiovisuals are pleasant with an aura of mystique around them, and the rolling reels system flows smoothly. Getting occasional ‘win guarantee’ Echo Rolls helps keep you going as well, as what you really want is the bonus round.
Being lucky with the upgrade wheel seems important, but non-UK players have the option of paying extra to get more upgrades as they see fit. This makes the feature highly flexible, albeit only in eligible jurisdictions, and incrementing the multiplier by +2 or +3 seems like a good choice. The volatility is very high according to the data sheet, but you’re compensated by a solid20,000x potential.
