Fishin’ Frenzy is a beefed-up Megaways version of the original classic fishing trip slot, and it was released by Blueprint Gaming 23 April 2019. The graphics are still simple and cartoon-like, but a 6th reel has been added, as well as up to 15,625 paylines. The free spins feature is more or less the same, but you can now win up to 100,000 coins. This is a highly volatile game, and if you liked the original there is no reason you will not enjoy this boosted version also.
Before we delve deeper into Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways and whatever fun features you’ll find here, we thought you might like a summary of the most relevant technical data:
The RTP on Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways slot is almost 1% lower than the industry average, which is something worth taking note of. This is also a highly volatile game which will require you to take some precautions and set your bet level according to what your bankroll can handle.
Obviously, Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways is based on the original Fishin’ Frenzy by the Australian game developer Reel Time Studio. While the original is still quite popular, Blueprint has decided to beef it up with their infamous Megways engine. The results, as you can imagine, is a fishing trip on steroids with a boosted potential.
Blueprint has stayed true to the original on the surface, but when you take a peek under the hood you’ll quickly notice the difference. Obviously, up to 15,625 ways to win is a tad more than the 10 paylines on the original from Reel Time, but the main thing is still the free spins feature where you get to reel in cash prizes from every fish you catch. If you loved the original game, there is no reason why you’ll not like this beefed-up version too.
In the base game you’ll benefit from the Megaways engine, and this makes every spin a bit unpredictable as you never know quite how many ways to win you’ll get. The maximum number of paylines possible is 15,625, and the fisherman symbol is the wild symbol on this game. The fish symbols are also worth noticing. They can give you smaller payouts in the base game, but they are very important in the free spins feature we’ll discuss below.
To trigger the free spins feature on Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways, you’ll need to land 3, 4, 5 or 6 Fishing Boat scatter symbols on the same spin. This will give you 10, 15, 25 or 50 free spins, respectively, and you also have the option to buy the free spins feature if you’re willing to pay 100 times your stake.
In the free spins feature all the fish symbols come with a specific cash value attached to them, and when you land the fisherman himself he’ll reel in all those fish symbols and collect all the cash for you. Every single fish can win you as much as 5 times your stake, so this can be a very lucrative fishing expedition indeed.
Another cool feature happens when you land an additional fisherman, as this will multiply your winnings by a factor of 1x per fisherman. You can land up to 5 fishermen at the same time, which will boost your collected cash prize with 5x. It’s possible to win up to 10,000 times your stake this way.
This is far from the most complicated Megaways engine slot on the market, but there are some adjustments and menus you should know about. Experienced players might not need to read this part (or you can skim through it to be safe), as what we reveal here is mostly for newbies and players with little to no experience.

The bet level adjustment arrows are found on the left-hand side, and you can click the button to choose a total bet between 10p to £100 per spin. Above this bet level button you’ll see a bonus round buy option which is available in some jurisdictions. Here you can opt to buy the free spins round for 100x your stake.
Finally, the time has come to decide whether you want to spin the reels manually, or set up the autoplay feature. The latter allows you to lean back and relax while the reels spin, which is kind of like waiting for the fish to bite when you’re all set up in the boat. Choose between 10 and 100 autospins, and set your chosen win and/or loss limit via the advanced options.

The drawback of the Megeways version of this game is that the volatility has gone from a cozy low/medium to brutally high. This is no longer the idyllic and peaceful expedition the original game takes you on, as there is a massive storm brewing – a storm that will threaten to topple your boat and empty your cash fish bucket before you know it.
The game might look and sound about the same, but we knew up front that the math model had been upgraded from feeder fish to great white shark with 5 sets of teeth in its fearsome jaws. We did not come lightly to this 200 spins test run mission, and dressed for the weather by setting the bet level firmly to £1 per spin. With a YouTube episode of “Fishing with John” featuring Tom Waits in the background, we were all set and ready to go.
The base game does not offer much in terms of features, and we kept spinning manually for some rounds before we set the autoplay to 100 spins. The fish symbols kept giving us the most wins here, but nothing more than 10 to 15 times our stake, usually. We still struggled to stay afloat, and in the end we lost our patience and decided to pay the 100x to trigger the bonus round.
The first bonus round was so horribly bad in terms of winnings, that we decided to forget about it and buy one more. We did not catch a single cash fish in our first go, and we just felt cheated. The second time we landed the fisherman together with enough cash fish to actually make a small dent. This happened a few times, and in the end we hauled in around 78x our stake.
Not all that bad, but we were still down a lot from our total session, and we’re happy that there are plenty of “fish in the sea” when it comes to slots and even megaways slots. High volatility can be unforgiving, and the cozy and idyllic theme does not really reflect that fact very well. Anyway, we hope your beginners’ luck is better than ours was with this game and “Tight lines, mate! Tight lines”.
You’ll not find a progressive or local jackpot on Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways, but you can still win some very nice payouts here. The max win is 10,000 times your stake, and this amounts to £100,000 when you play with maximum stakes. Of course, the highest bet is limited to only £10, which kind of puts a damper on the potential of this game.
You can surely play Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways slot on both mobile and tablet, and Blueprint always optimize their games for all handheld devices. This is a fun game to bring with you on a fishing trip or anywhere else you might go. You can reel in some cash while you’re waiting for the real fish to bite, and you can play on your Android, iPhone or iPad.
Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways slot is not that different from the original game, really. The graphics are simple and cartoonish, and the bonus features are more or less the same. However, the potential has been boosted quite a lot, and the number of potential paylines are through the roof (as per usual with Megaways slots). It’s very simple really, if you were a fan of the original game you’ll most likely enjoy this enhanced version too.
