The previous installment,Chronicles of Olympus X UP, has become quite popular, and this is probably partly due to the strong math model. Bolt X UP is a more casual installment in that sense, and it will appeal to players looking for a less brutal experience. You can still win up to a very decent10,000xyour stake though, and the medium volatility makes this a more forgiving prospect.
Visually, it’s less impressive than the 2 predecessors, although the high voltage theme looks pretty cool. The X Up feature is at the center of everything, and increasing the multiplier you get in the bonus round gives you a sense of purpose when grinding along in the base game. Expanding wilds help you out also in this installment, but we wouldn’t have minded some new features and/or innovations by now.
The premium symbols pay between 2 and 4 x your stake for 5 of a kind, and theWild symbolsteps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete wins. The Wild symbol always expands to cover the entire reel when it lands, and it pays 4.5x your stake for 5 of a kind. A full screen of wilds will thus pay 1,093.5x your stake.

The 10,000x potential is solid, but it has been significantly reduced compared to the 2 previous X Up installments. The same can be said about the x10 maximum multiplier, so the high risk/reward bunch will probably not be pleased. However, it’s an understandable move from Alchemy Gaming, since having a casually medium volatile installment in the series will appeal to a different segment of potential players.
You get expanding wilds on all 5 reels, like in the 2 previous games, and this can lead to 1,093.5x payouts at best. We would encourage Alchemy Gaming to include a bet size of £/€1 next time, as it’s annoying to not have that option. The X Up concept is better with the Upsizer option, as getting to an x10 multiplier organically can take a good while. Casual punters now have a good alternative in the series, and the potential is still very solid despite the downsizing.
