The iconicFishin’ Frenzyhas since been dethroned by the even more popularBig Bass Bonanza, as well as the ‘deluxe’ version follow-up,Bigger Bass Bonanza. Wizard Gaming has clearly decided that a Deluxe version of their original – and less memorable -Fisherman’s Bountyis also a good idea, and we have no doubt about which of the two installments we prefer.
You get both more features and a more robust math model in Fisherman’s Bounty Deluxe, and you can now reel in Oyster cash symbols also in the base game. Sometimes this will even trigger a Jackpot pick ‘em game, where prizes up to 1,000x can be landed, and you get indefinite retriggers in the bonus round. Overall, a decent enough Fishin’ Frenzy copycat, but the competition in thefishing slot genreis rather stiff.
The premium symbols, consisting of lifebuoys and 3 different fish, pay between 2.5 and 11.25 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and theFisherman Wildpays 15x your stake for the same. The wild also substitutes for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations, but it does not serve as the Collect symbol in this game.
TheOyster Collect featuremay trigger also in the base game in this Deluxe version, and you will landOyster cash symbolson a regular basison reels 1 to 4. If you also land atackle box Collect symbol on reel 5, all present Oyster cash symbols are collected and you win the summed up value. Each Oyster comes with arandom cash value between 1x and 50x(as far as we can tell, as it’s not specified in the paytable).
Each time you trigger the Oyster Collect feature, there is a chance you may trigger theJackpot featureafter the initial Oyster payout has been summed up. You will thenpick from 15 oysterson a new screen, and matching up 3 of the same jackpot symbol awards the corresponding prize (as seen above the reels). TheMini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpotspay50x, 100x, 200x or 1,000x your stake, respectively.
You trigger the Bonus Round with8 free spinswhen you land3 fishing boat scatterson reels 2, 3 and 4, andyou can retrigger the bonus roundindefinitely by landing3 scatterson the same free spin. The Oyster Collect feature can trigger also during the free spins round, and it plays out exactly like the base game except for the underwater setting.
We land a decent top-up win involving wilds at the start of the 3:46-minute highlights video, but after that we ran into a patch of dead spins that never seemed to end. The bonus round finally triggers at 2:25, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
There is no doubt that this follow-up release is superior to the original Fisherman’s Bounty, so the Deluxe addition to the title is not without merit. The classic reel ‘em Collect feature can now be triggered also in the base game, but the downside is that all the Oyster Cash symbols block regular pay symbol wins. These can go no higher than 281.25x your stake though (or 375x for a full screen of wilds), and 1-2 teaser scatters also land quite often to further block regular wins.
The above scenario is the case in many Fishin’ Frenzy copycat installments though, but it would still be nice to see the dilemma resolved. The overall potential varies a bit with the customizable RTP settings, and the top-tier 1,216x potential is around 3x higher than what’s on offer in the original. Including a jackpot game that’s randomly triggered from the Collect feature is clever enough, but we wouldn’t have minded if the Grand Jackpot was, say, 5x more attractive.
Pros
Cons
Fisherman’s Bounty- is Wizard Games’ original Fishin’ Frenzy copycat, and it’s a good alternative if you want things as simple as possible. The Fish Bounty Collect feature is only available in the bonus round in this installment, and you can win up to 384x your stake at the most (depending on RTP setting).
Go Fish!- is an underwater release from Inspired Gaming, and it plays out on a 3×3 grid surrounded by an outside ‘wrap-around’ reel. You get puffer fish wild modifiers, as well whale whirlpools, and the bonus round comes with 5 water wheel modifiers for payouts up to 12,500x your stake.
Fishin’ Frenzy Jackpot King- is Blueprint’s jackpot version of the popular original release, and you can land 3 progressive jackpots, as well as smaller prizes, in the Jackpot King Deluxe feature. The fisherman wild Reel ‘em Collect feature is available in the bonus round only, and you can win up to 5,000x your stake outside of the jackpots.
The renowned Fishin’ Frenzy has been surpassed by the more popular Big Bass Bonanza and its deluxe version, Bigger Bass Bonanza. Wizard Gaming has also released a deluxe version of their less popular game, Fisherman’s Bounty. This new version, Fisherman’s Bounty Deluxe, offers more features and a stronger math model. It also includes the ability to reel in Oyster cash symbols in the base game, which can trigger a Jackpot pick ‘em game with prizes up to 1,000x your stake. The game also includes bonus rounds and retriggers. Despite being a decent copy of Fishin’ Frenzy, this game faces stiff competition in the fishing slot genre.

In Fisherman’s Bounty Deluxe, the premium symbols, lifebuoys, and three different fish, pay between 2.5 and 11.25 times your stake for five of a kind wins.
