Yggdrasil’s Multimax series started in 2020, with the release ofMultiFly, and Firekick! MultiMax is close to being a pure reskin job. It’s obviously meant to take advantage of the football fever that will surely spread across the globe when the Fifa World Cup kicks off on the 20th of November 2022. The 5×3 grid is placed above the pitch in a jam-packed stadium, and you get the bird’s eye view of a fan high up on the stand.
The footballer symbols are generic, but there might be some similarities to certain famous players if you pay close attention. You get avalanche wins that generate a wild that again increases the relevant reel multiplier, and the reel multipliers never reset in the bonus round. What’s brand new in this release is the bonus buy option, but you get fewer free spins from 3 scatters unless you gamble for more.
The 5 football player premium symbols pay between 2 and 4 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. Winning symbols are removed via theAvalanche mechanic, and replaced by new and/or existing symbols dropping down to fill the gaps. This process repeats as long as you keep winning, and a Wild symbol is added in an empty position per Avalanche win.
Each reel comes with amultiplierabove it, and it starts at x1 for each reel. The added wild increases the multiplier on the relevant reel by+1, andwild symbolsalso step in for pay symbols to help complete winning lines. The reel multipliers will boost any win the relevant reel or reels are a part of, and the multipliers take turns multiplying the win if more than one is involved. Everything resets between paid base game spins.
The Bonus Round triggers from3, 4 or 5 scattersin view, and this gives you6, 8 or 10 free spins, respectively. You cangamblefor more free spins if you wish, and the gamble feature is a penalty shoot-out where you get to pick which corner to aim for. You can get up to 11 free spins from the gamble round, but you also risk losing the whole bonus round from a single failed shot.
That being said, there is a chance that a losing gamble pick is turned into a winner, and this happens via therandomly triggered Firekick feature. The big and only difference from the base game, is that the reel multipliers never reset as long as the bonus round lasts. ABonus Buy optionhas been included this time, at least for non-UK players, and you can purchase 6 free spins for70x your stake. You can still gamble for more spins, if you dare.
You get to see the reel multipliers in action in the base game, before we purchase the bonus round at 0:38 into the 2:27-minute highlights video. We decided to not take our chances in the penalty shoot-out gamble feature, so 6 free spins is what we got. You can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
There are a couple of reasons to choose Firekick! MultiMax over the original MultiFly release, so let’s start with the most obvious one. The FIFA World Cup in Qatar starts late November 2022, and this is obviously Yggdrasil’s contribution in that regard. Players who are into football might appreciate the stadium atmosphere you get in Firekick! MultiMax, and the audiovisuals are decently done without being anything too special either.
The reel multiplier feature does its thing just as well in this installment as in the original, and a bonus buy option has now been included for players in certain jurisdictions (not UK for sure). The10,000x potentialremains the same, and tension builds when the reel multipliers only keep building in the bonus round. However, you get only 6 free spins from 3 scatters in this version, while MultiFly gives you 10. Perhaps a pure reskin job would’ve been a better choice, and overall we prefer the original despite being football fans.
Pros
Cons
MultiFly- is the original release from Yggdrasil, and it comes with excellent tropical jungle visuals. The reel multipliers increase per wild generated, and the multipliers never reset in the bonus round. You get 10 free spins from 3 scatters instead of 6 though, and the max win is 10,000x also here.
Crystal Falls Multimax- is a multiplier-centric installment from Yggdrasil YGS partner, Bulletproof Games, and avalanche wins climbs the free spins trail for up to 25 spins. The progressive multiplier reels in the bonus round can lead to payouts up to 4,106x your stake.
Spinions Game Day- is a non-serious and charming football installment from Quickspin, and you get to join the orange-skinned chaps for their big day at the pitch. The characters move around as wilds with increasing multipliers as they pass the ball between them, and the wild multipliers and wilds just keep increasing in the bonus round.

The Multimax series by Yggdrasil started in 2020 with the release of games such as MultiFly and Firekick. The MultiMax game is seemingly designed to capitalize on the football frenzy expected during the Fifa World Cup in November 2022. The game takes place in a stadium, with the footballer symbols possibly resembling some famous players. The game features a 5×3 grid, avalanche wins that generate wilds which increase the reel multipliers, and a bonus buy option. The bonus round can be triggered by 3, 4, or 5 scatters, awarding 6, 8, or 10 free spins respectively. Players can gamble for more free spins in a penalty shootout feature. The reel multipliers do not reset in the bonus round and a bonus buy option is available for non-UK players. Compared to the original MultiFly release, Firekick! MultiMax offers a different atmosphere with its football theme and the opportune timing of its release ahead of the FIFA World Cup. However, it only offers 6 free spins from 3 scatters, unlike MultiFly which gives 10. Despite this, the reel multiplier feature and the potential for a 10,000x win remain the same. Other games in the Multimax series include Crystal Falls Multimax and Spinions Game Day.
