Given the original and elaborate visual presentation in the 2 previous installments in Yggdrasil’s Gigablox series, Gator Gold Gigablox is a bit of a surprise. The rather mediocre, plain and generic african safari theme seems out of place, and it looks nothing like what we’ve come to expect from this developer. We sure hope this is a one-off, and not the start of a new trend.
Anyway, the game itself is pretty standard stuff too, and only wilds and thedynamic Gigablox reelsare there to keep you going in the base game. That might be enough for barebone’s fans, but it’s hardly innovative anymore. Multiplier wilds ups the ante in the bonus round, and the20,000xpotential is the most attractive thing about this release, really.
You can land wild symbols on all 6 reels, and they step in for all pay symbols like wilds usually do. The Gigablox mechanic ensures that each spin is unique, not unlike the Megaways engine. You can landsymbol blocks up to 4×4 in size, and combinations of different block sizes manifest all the time.

The first thing that struck us when testing Gator Gold Gigablox, was the watered down visual presentation. While the 2 previous installments offered a rich, crisp and vivid visual experience, this game looks plain and generic. Not something we’re used to from this developer at all, but okay. If you can look past that, the Gigablox still provides some variety to the base game grind.
On a positive note, the impressive20,000xpotential is a lot higher than in the previous titles, which some will probably find to be an adequate compensation for the rather poor visuals. Doing something more innovative with the whole gigablox concept seems overdue at this point, and it would be a good idea to attempt to bring the series forward sooner rather than later.
