Most people have heard about Medusa, the hideous lady with snakes for hair that could scare men so much that they turned into stone statues on the spot. Only those familiar with greek mythology know that Medusa was not the only one with these abilities. She had a couple of sisters, Stheno and Euryale, and anyone with the same characteristics was called a Gorgon.
Golden Gorgon throws the myth of King Midas into the mix however, and the Gorgon in this game has the ability to turn winning symbols into sticky golden versions of themselves. This triggers a respin with the winning symbols locked in place, and the goal is to fill the screen with symbols to benefit from the highest possible 5x multiplier.
Whenever you landat least 3 matching symbols on a payline, the symbols turn into golden sticky versions of themselves viaGorgon’s Gaze. The remaining positions will then respin, and any new symbols that match the golden winning combo will also become sticky. This awards another respin, and the feature goes on as long as you keep improving the initial winning combo.
If you manage to fill a whole reel with golden symbols during the Respins feature, you will trigger a Multiplier feature. You need to fill the reels from left to right however, and the multiplier is equal to the number of reels filled. As an example, if you fill reels 1, 2 and 3, you get a 3x multiplier, while filling all 5 reels awards the maximum of a5x multiplier.
We have included a couple of Gorgon’s Gaze Respin features in our less than 2 minutes long highlights video. The first trigger gave us a decent payout, and you can see for yourself how it works by hitting the play button below.
We get that Yggdrasil is busy and focused on expanding their Masters YGS program, but Golden Gorgon looks and sounds like something created by one of their apprentice studios. The Ancient Greek theme is hardly original, and it’s done in a pretty generic way here. Knowing what this developer is capable of, it’s hard to not be a bit disappointed by this release.
The2,500xpotential seems okay for a simple game like this, and it definitely feels achievable. You will trigger the Gorgon’s Gaze Respin feature with low-value symbols most of the time, and even the second highest sword symbol awards “only” 750x your stake if you fill the screen. Triggering a Hold & Respin style feature on every win is entertaining though, and it might be enough to keep certain players amused for a while.

Most people are familiar with the myth of Medusa, the fearsome woman with serpentine hair who could turn men into stone with just a glance. However, Greek mythology enthusiasts know that Medusa wasn’t the only one with this power; she had two sisters, Stheno and Euryale, collectively known as Gorgons. The Golden Gorgon game merges this myth with that of King Midas, featuring a Gorgon who can turn winning symbols into sticky golden versions of themselves, triggering a respin and locking in place the winning symbols. The aim is to fill the screen with symbols to gain the highest possible 5x multiplier.

This feature, dubbed Gorgon’s Gaze, activates whenever at least three matching symbols land on a payline. The Ancient Greek theme is far from unique, and it’s executed in a rather generic manner here. Considering the developer’s potential, this release is somewhat disappointing. However, the game does offer a potential 2,500x payout, which seems achievable for a simple game like this. The Gorgon’s Gaze Respin feature is primarily activated with low-value symbols and can be entertaining, possibly keeping some players engaged for some time.
