Onlyplay continues their Megaways reskin galore, and Jungle Gold Megaways does nothing to stick out from what we have already seen from this developer numerous times by now. Granted, you get a new skin at least, in the form of a fairly standard jungle animal theme, but we would encourage this developer to be a tad more daring in the feature department if they want to be noticed. Perhaps they have a strategy we don’t understand, but it doesn’t seem to work very well so far.
If you tried their last Megaways effort, Lucky Punch Megaways (also a reskin), you know exactly what to expect in Jungle Gold Megaways. That’s right, you get wild symbols on the 3 middle reels, as usual, and very little else in the base game. The dynamic grid is not as big and bold as you may expect either, topping out at7,776 win ways, and the sticky wilds bonus round is your best shot at cracking the way below average1,877x potential.
The 3 top-tier animal symbols award 3, 4, or 5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the small monkey is the alpha of the pack. The low-value royal symbols pay either 0.5 or 1 x your stake for 5 of a kind, and you win by landing matching symbols on 3+ adjacent reels from the uttermost left to the right. Each reel can come with up to 6 positions, thanks to the Megaways engine.
Theblack panther Wild symbolcan appearon reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and it substitutes for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins. The wild holds no value of its own, however, and it will also play a central part in the bonus round.
Speaking of, theBonus Roundtriggers from3 crossed jungle knife scattersanywhere in view, and this awards10 free spinsfor starters. You win+5 extra spinseach time you land3+ scatterson the same free spin, and all wilds that landbecome stickyfor the duration of the feature. The wilds change size with the size of the reels.
You get to see a few smaller wins in the base game, before we trigger the bonus round with 3 scatters at 0:28 into the 2-minute highlights video. We landed a decent amount of sticky wilds early on, and you can see for yourself how it all played out by hitting the play button below.
If making as little as possible out of the Megaways license is the goal, Onlyplay has succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. They keep churning out essentially the same game, and it’s not like the original was a sparkling jewel of originality either. Jungle Gold Megaways is a reskin of Lucky Punch, which was a reskin of Liga Fortune Megaways Pro, and we’ve lost count before that. Why they bother paying for the Megaways brand while producing slots that can’t compete in the genre is beyond us.
The grid not only looks smaller than even most regular slots, but it also comes with only7,776 win ways, at best. You get wilds on the 3 middle reels, and wilds are sticky in the bonus round. This can produce wins up to a measly1,877x your stake, which is the lowest we’ve seen in the Megaways genre. Onlyplay probably has their reasons for doing things this mysterious way, but Jungle Gold Megaways is yet another installment from them we wish we didn’t have to even try.
