Liga Fortuna Megaways PRO follows closely in the footsteps of the recent Liga Fortuna Megaways from OnlyPlay, but don’t let the “pro” in the title get your hopes up. This is actually a watered down version of the original game in all conceivable ways, and the predecessor wasn’t really all that impressive either. The Megaways grid has shrunk down to 5×6 reels, at best, with a measly 7,776 ways to win when firing on all cylinders.
Not exactly a monster in the dynamic grid genre in other words, and the somewhat bland visual presentation is more or less the same. You get to meet lookalikes of Messi, Mbappe, and what looks like David Silva, and the grid is placed in the middle of the pitch with a packed stadium surrounding it. There is no noise from the audience, however, and the main attraction is a bonus round with sticky wilds. The1,877x potentialis hardly impressive in this genre, and especially not when the original non-pro version offers almost two times that.
The 3 premium symbol soccer players pay 3, 4, and 5 x your stake for 5 of a kind, respectively, with the Messi lookalike as the top-tier symbol. You can landgolden ball Wild symbolson reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and wilds step in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve line wins. You win by landing matching symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel towards the right, and each reel can land with up to 5 positions.
You need3+ trophy scattersin view to trigger theBonus Round, and this gives you10 free spins. Landing3+ scattersin view on the same free spin, however, awards+5 extra spinseach time. All wild symbols that appear in the bonus round become sticky for the duration of the feature, and the wilds change size according to the number of positions on the reel per spin.
You get to see a few wins here and there in the base game, including a decent wild win. We then trigger the bonus round with 4 scatters at 0:35 into the 2:08-minute highlights video, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
We have been scratching our heads about pretty much all Megaways releases from OnlyPlay so far, and Liga Fortuna Megaways PRO is certainly no exception. What in the world is this studio thinking with a follow-up like this? They slap on “PRO” in the title, which gave us a vague hope that this would be a far better version of the original Liga Fortuna Megaways. Sadly, the opposite is the case, and the original wasn’t exactly a bound for Champions League either.
They have somehow decided to shrink the grid to a 5×6 setup with only7,776 possible Megaways, and the1,877x potentialis more or less sliced in half as well. Other than that, you’re basically looking at the exact same game in terms of the visuals and what little features are on offer. You get a sticky wilds bonus round, which is hardly the height of innovation, and we don’t see how this wimpy thing can compete in the Megaways market at all. It seems like a waste of license fees to be brutally honest, but at least there is plenty of room for improvement.
